I loved the Spring Cleaning and hope the staff considers doing it again later in the year. I also really enjoyed receiving the update PMs to see the progress of various projects and fixes.

Great job 3nodding

Just as well i write my comment here as well:

There is my disappointment on the treatment of Towns 2.0 (a lot misunderstood the description, and voted thereafter), and the dishearthening information on the Houses' situation (i prefer this info, though, since not knowing why were worse), .... But!

Despite this, Spring Cleaning was clearly worthwile!
No doubt, it was a Great idea, and well executed.
Really, it was a neccessity!

I'd like to see it again, next Year, or, if possible, once more this year.

I am delighted by the Project as such, even if ....... i had my opinions.
There was really so much to fix, and now, at least some of it is fixed, and that was the main point with this.

Spring Cleaning was a fantastic idea, and I think it should occur at least once every six months to keep the features working like they should. I believe that there is still a lot that needs to be done, and doing this just once isn't enough. Thank you all for working so hard and I hope this idea carries forward.

I would have liked the My Gaia page to be included in the clean up, but I can hope for the future.
When you have a problem, stop complaining and DO something about it.

Bump my Megathread? <33
I thought Spring Cleaning was a good idea, and I'd love to see it implemented again. Having a relatively direct way to influence site fixes and small annoyances was really nice! I also liked the PM updates on it, since I have a tendency to forget things like this.

All in all I'm happy with how it went, and the results, although I wasn't terribly invested in anything.

Oops, somehow I missed the Sticky. Well, here's what I had to say~

Spring Cleaning is a brilliant idea! 3nodding This year's version was extremely effective, and I hope its success leads to a future repetition. whee

I really enjoyed having an appropriate place to enter my feedback on a large number of possible projects. It was great to see the list of projects the team was considering (along with a projected cost in terms of work hours) and really cool to see that the ones with the greatest user support got taken care of first. blaugh

There was also an appropriate place for Gaians to add their own proposals, and I added a bunch of feedback there, too. Several user proposals got incorporated into the main forum, and the most popular are being actualized. whee It even sounds like the input from the Spring Cleaning project is being kept around to help the team prioritize future fixes.

The update PMs from admin to those who participated were a great idea, too. Some Gaians may not be that interested in the inner workings of Gaia, and if they didn't feel like participating, they weren't bombarded with Announcements about the fix-a-thon. Everyone who did participate was kept up to date, though, and the very handy links made it easy for them to take a peek at new threads or make sure to input some feedback in requested areas.

I also liked that some projects were important enough to take on without user feedback. I think many of us were surprised and pleased by the appearance of the Gender-Bender potion, which had not had a "What do you think?" thread beforehand and which most Gaians seem to love. New buttons got snuck into Forums without much fanfare, and they look great.

The depth of incorporating user feedback was also amazing. I am particularly impressed by the upcoming new preview widget, which was the result of merging feedback in the fix-a-thon forum to feedback in SF proper. This new preview ability will give me exactly what I've been wanting for years. Amazingly cool~! blaugh

I like seeing the tally of all of the things (even "minor" ones) that got tackled and corrected. heart Shiny~! heart I'm glad that it's a pretty long list; the team could have spent the entire time partially fixing Towns, which needs to be done but which wouldn't have satisfied the desire for a visibly productive fix-a-thon. As it is, the results seem amazing, even before all the projects are ready to roll.

I suspect the team does a ton of fixing and cleaning in the background all the time. However, having a specific time and place to discuss the projects allows Gaians to be aware of the projects and to cheer on the devs. blaugh It sounds like Fishing and Towns (and, I am hoping, older games such as Word Bump) are being prioritized for future work even though there wasn't time to redo them during the fix-a-thon. I would love to see the fix-a-thon become an annual event with long-haul consequences.

Thanks again for requesting and incorporating Gaians' feedback.
Please Bump if Glowing~!

What I liked most about Spring Cleaning was that you asked the users for our input into what you would focus on. Thumbs up on the good communication.
It was just a little disappointing that the Arena entry fee was not raised when it was said that it would only take a few minutes of a developers time to do so.
EDIT: Apparently there's a sticky in the Arena Forum about possible changes.

I think the Spring Cleaning Forum was a great idea to get user feederback. I glad with the outcome but I didn't really contribute much.. = ]

I thought it was a great idea and was very pleased with it. I hope the staff considers doing it more than once a year. It's very nice to see things that users wanted fixed getting worked on.

I thought Spring Cleaning was fantastic. I liked the way we got to both vote on proposals and provide feedback. I was pleased to see user generated proposals get added to the official ones, and user generated ideas taken seriously and in some cases implemented. Spring Cleaning should be done every year, with the emphasis being on short projects and fixes that can be completed. (Next time fix Word Bump, please?)

I would also love to see Housing fixed, and I'm sure many would also love to see fishing revamped (and who knows, I might like it better if it was!), but to me those are BIG projects that would take more than two weeks to be done right. They should be done, but not crammed into Spring Cleaning and only partly completed. However, just as you did with Spring Cleaning, hold a forum before you start to get user feedback on what should be done.

The other thing you did right was providing more feedback as to what proposals were accepted and sending those of us that voted those great PM's with links. I especially liked the developer run "fix" threads, as they proved to be a good place for further communication about what needed to be done before it was too late.

If Gaia continues to provide for this kind of communication with it's users, people will be far more happy with the site.

What happened to the whole "re-naming/removing names of super old super inactive accounts"? That was originally part of this I thought? Either way the account that jerk made just to spite me back in '04 (changed my name, guy makes an account with that name and never touches it again) is still there.

Thought the Spring Cleaning was awesome. It is nice knowing that the developers of gaia put the users in consideration when doing changes and fixing things.

I love the idea of spring cleaning!! It's an easy way to get all the suggestions, bug fixes, etc all in one place, and deal with them when devs are available. I'd suggest that devs who have time can pick things off the list as they have time to deal with them (e.g. "Hey, I'm a dev and I know I'll have a few hours free next week, let's look through the spring cleaning list and see if there's a simple project I can push through in that time." wink in addition to doing the full blown spring cleaning once (or maybe twice) a year.

Awesome job! Thanks devs and programmers!!

You guys are amazing!!!!!

Spring cleaning was awesome. I could care less about whether or not every single thing I wanted fixed was fixed or not. You guys got stuff fixed. Period. I absolutely LOVE that you left it to the users to determine what was the most important to them. Even if only a few of the user-voted fixes were worked on, just having a venue to get some issues with the site noticed and fast-tracked was amazing. Petitions are often put in the back of the average gaian's minds, and they take a lot of time and effort just to make it pretty enough for others to want to look at it, and on top of that it can take years to rack up signatures, and even then it feels kind of like it's not very high on the to-do list or even the pay-attention-to-this-thread list.

I loved the "under construction" feel of the header, too.

My only gripe was that I don't think it lasted long enough. It seems like a few projects will take quite a bit longer than the 2 weeks to implement! It also seemed like it didn't get enough attention. More announcements!!!! Make it a mini event of some sort or maybe a contest if you guys do this again next year.

I have to say, the absolute best part of this spring cleaning deal was that we, the users, were let into the loop. Just KNOWING that fixes are in the works, on the list of to-dos, or even just being LOOKED AT and THOUGHT OF is just... Amazing.

I adore the concept behind Spring Cleaning and sincerely hope that the Gaia staff will think about doing this again (and again...and again...) because everything about it was great; I loved being able to vote and post about what projects I hoped you guys would tackle. I loved it, from the PMs (which were seriously awesome) to the forum dedicated to the event- no issues at all even though the one thing that I would love to see fixed (or even mentioned) was not touched or listed.

I thought it went well. I think it all worked and personally the only thing I would change is to have had it last longer or have it done ever so often, like one other member mentioned; maybe every six months or so?

If for no other reason the reconnecting with the user base and having that feeling that the Gaia staff cares and is listening- thank you guys. Really. Sometimes just having that feeling that one is being heard is enough. heart

You may be gone but you're never over.

Why am I so bad at being good?
