About

Name: Madding
Age:22
Location: Texas
Genre(s): Sci-fi, fantasy, YA, poetry, etc
Why those Genres? I'm diverse. I like world building though, so sci-fi and fantasy appeal to me in those ways. It's nice to be able to manipulate the surroundings and culture to most impact my characters and plot.
Writing Experience: BA in Writing, Copy Editor at a magazine, published a few articles, self published poetry
Currently Project: Sci-Fi novel, book of peoms
Most Potent Form of Inspiration: Reading, experiencing cool things
Favorite Music for Writing: Any track of 10 songs I can put on repeat for hours
Favorite Author(s) and Why: Tanith Lee---BEST sci-fi and fantasy author ever. So poignant and unique, love it! Gail Carson Levine---she can say everything in such a simple way, it reminds me to not be so wordy. Jane Austen---come on, I'm a hopeless romantic really. Tamora Pierce---epic, strong female leads, amazing world. Lois McMaster Bujold---worldbuilding and character development so strong and deep you can just live off of it.
Favorite Character (from a book): I have to choose? Can't I have one from each of the authors I mentioned? Ok, let's go with Alanna the Lioness
I Write Books That Make People Feel: Touched, confused, sad, happy, like laughing
My favorite piece of writing: A few of my poems, at the moment
I hate it when stories: [/b]Leave out important details or skip over scenes that the reader needed to see. Also the reverse, when the writer leads the reader through countless boring side tracks that have nothing to do with anything.
Publishers Will Love My Work Because: I write strong female leads, am good at worldbuilding, and have a poetic style that does wonder with language.
My goal(s) as a writer: Publish a book of poems, a fantasy series, a sci fi novel, own my own children's publishing firm, start up and own my own poetry magazine, get invited to speak at Bookpeople, my favorite book store ever, have an interview with Conan O'Brien.
POV?: 3rd person. I like to control everything.
Novels, Short Stories or Poetry: Novels and Poetry.
Fan-Fiction or Original works: Both, but mostly original work right now.
Writing Ratings: All.

Signature

Madding ponders: Which is mightier, the pencil or the plasma sword?

Questing Purple Body Dye: Feel free to send me unwanted purple inks!

Your cat looks like a combination of my cats. ( Ones, lighter, skinny with your kitties fur type.)
He looks adorable. 4laugh

It's a difficult read, I'll say. Mainly because of the peculiar way he writes (which is breath-taking), but also because of the insane vocabulary (I had to read it with a dictionary--some of it is the dialect in which they speak).

Hi! Thank you for your comments. For writing and editing, my history is heavily based in poetry especially the Elizabethan, Jacobean and well 1800s-ish times. I write (well kind of used-to) quite a bit, mostly sonnets and etc. I also used to read a RIDICULOUS amount of fan-fiction, so I have a really sensitive taste to what I feel is good. In terms of literature I have a very traditional view of finesse. I try to pick words when debating because I'm one of the types to attack people based on word choice (though sometimes you see I get in sticky situations sad ). The books I read are usually quite refined such as "At Swim, Two Boys" by Jamie O'Neill (the most important book to me; I revere it) and like just things I find have a certain grace to their language.

What Japanese books have you been reading? I'm always on the look-out for recommendations too.

He wrote a fair bit actually and is one of Japan's most lauded authors. You might have heard of The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea, Patriotism, or Way of the Samurai.
